Actually, I don't see why you are so upset about this picture. I love it.
And I actually like the butterfly background as well. It makes a sort of stain glass/fire look to it. Very nice. The character is well drawn. The expression is nice and generally this is a good picture.

Gaytastic? Nah. A gaytastic background would be a nightclub scene in the background with silhouettes of male furs in the background, grinding. The butterflies make it gaytacular, 'specially with the mood the 'coon's showing.
