Rob tries to get away from it all, but finds himself under the shadow of a very demanding eagle. Uses Beleram (personally I think it’s Corvidius’ best port to date) model.

The terrible ones. In his youth, Rob had heard fantastic stories of giant scaly creatures that once roamed the skies, preying on his fellow humans and making them the beasts’ slaves. As he matured, the man had just assumed it was an old wives’ tale, something to scare young children and make for a good campfire story. But, as fate would have it, Rob was about to come face to face with one of the storied dragons.
Rob decided he had enough of the rat race one week and put in for leave at his office job. He thought the nearby mountain range would be perfect for some soul-searching. The night before departing, the newly-minted explorer packed up food, water, shelter, and his GPS for a weekend enjoying the crisp air and all nature had to offer. Figuring he would only be gone a day or two, Rob didn’t even tell his best friends about his idea to spend time in the wilderness.
After a restless sleep filled with strange dreams of nebulous shadows pursuing him, Rob awoke and jumped into his truck. The national park was less than an hour away, and he parked the red clunker just as the sun had fully arisen. Convincing himself that he knew the forest well enough, Rob left the GPS in his car to save weight. Sure enough, he quickly found himself lost among the towering sequoias. Whipping out an ancient cell phone, Rob cupped his hand over the screen to make out the dim LEDs: “No Service.”
“Heh heh. This is usually the part where you get eaten by bears,” he chuckled nervously to himself. Continuing on, Rob forced himself past a few more trees and was met with a most unusual clearing. At the center was…no. It couldn’t be. What was in the water he was drinking? It sure looked like it. An enormous house, not unlike what a human would build, only tens of times larger.
Rob dashed over to the house’s façade, driven by an unhealthy curiosity. He ran his hand along the brick. It sure felt real enough. Tracing the mortar, he found a small crack that would allow him egress into the cavernous dwelling. It never even crossed his mind that it could be occupied. Plenty of directors used the surroundings to shoot movies, so he just assumed they were working on some new Godzilla flick.
Rob soon found himself in what looked like a bedroom. He called out, “Hey, I’m lost! Is anyone around?” The only response was an unearthly screeching in the distance, and Rob immediately assumed a defensive position. A bird, an eagle of some sort, flew into the room, heading right towards him. His eyes widened as the shape grew larger and larger, more so than any flying creature should. When it started to eclipse Rob’s own size, he spun around and began sprinting across the carpet.
In his haste to leave, Rob tripped over himself and twisted his ankle. He dragged his body away from the bird as fast as possible despite the setback. The eagle was much too deft for him, though, and it landed directly behind Rob. He heard the creature alight and whipped his head around to meet a face filled with scorn. Rob knew that expression very well. It was the countenance of a human right before he crushed the life out of some poor, insignificant ant. A look of complete derision and superiority.
“E-easy there, birdy. I’m a friend, not food. Let’s not do anyth—“
The avian cut off Rob and pinned him under a taloned foot, the human’s head forced between two dingy, yellow claws. The digits felt rubbery and had a bumpy texture to them. Rob struggled to breathe as he maneuvered himself into a more comfortable position. The bird’s colossal and unyielding foot did not make his task any easier. The eagle screeched at his defiance, a piercing cry that would have made Rob cover his ears if he could move his arms.
His beak, glistening with moisture, forced itself upon Rob’s head. Then, in a suspiciously intelligent gesture, it began to rub its own talons. After it had completed the motions, it glared at the human. “What, you got me pinned. I know that! Are you just toying with me?” The bird then licked Rob.
“Eww. What the hell? You want me to lick you back or something?” Suddenly, everything clicked. “No. Please, don’t make me do that. I have my pride.” The avian opened its beak, placed it around Rob’s head, and began applying unbearable pressure.
“OK! OK! I’ll do it! Just stop, please!” The bird released his beak, but his angry expression made it clear that he wouldn’t tolerate anything but a cleaning. Rob stuck out his tongue and began bathing the space between two of the giant’s talons. He glared up at the being, partly to show his contempt and partly to avoid looking at his own denigration. The bird cooed in response to the stimulus and Rob swore he could even see a smile flit across its face.
Rob moved his tongue up and down the pebbly surface, wallowing in its warmth and bulk. After a few minutes of the degrading servitude, Rob saw an opportunity when the bird’s eyes flitted in pleasure. He gripped a claw with all his might and heaved, moving it just slightly. The eagle snapped back to attention and the two began to scuffle. Both were so enamored with the struggle that neither noticed the massive face watching over the entire scene.
