Excellent work, like I said, I really think this is one of your best. The overall composition works very well, the best way I'd describe it is "mature". Not in the "adult" sense, or inferring that your other stuff is therefore "immature", but just that it feels reserved yet powerful. It conveys a lot of emotion without needing extreme expressions or other things. Simple yet effective, that's what I mean.
The hands and bodies are particularly impressive. Very realistic, and the proportions feel just right. I can't really see anything in it to criticise, you've even got the feel of their clothing spot on. Basically they just look exactly as you'd expect them too.
It goes very well with the other pic of these two you did, where Corey's crying because of his mother, especially since that reverses the roles. Maybe it shows us something about the characters, that one responds differently to such situations? Or maybe it shows us the different traumas the boys have the deal with in their lives? Or maybe it's just differing circumstances? I like the possibilities there. Best of all though, the two together show nicely how they're always there for one another.
As I say, the positioning of the boys here is very nice, it tells you a lot. My favourite point about the whole thing is the way the ears are folded. A very good animal touch for the furries, something I'd like to get in more often now you've shown it to me. It's very effective and works well with the overall feel: in the other pic you can see how upset Corey is just by looking at him. This one feels more serene, and without seeing what's going on elsewhere it's in danger of losing it's message, on it's own like this. The ears solve that, they make them look like they're frightened or lonely, it puts in the context perfectly.
In addition to that, I like Patrick's posing. The position of his knees, one raised a little, and his arms around Corey both really make him look like he's trying to hide, just wants to be with him and no one else right then. He looks almost desperate, not panicked, but just longing to leave these worries and troubles behind. Also, might be a smaller point, but I love how you've done the fur patterns. The way it blends looks very good.
You know I like to give you constructive criticism, but here I really can't. Nothing springs to mind that could be improved. And I don't give praise or criticism for the sake of it, I just say what comes to mind, so I'll stick to that here and leave it at that :)
P.S. yay, I did the green shirt, that's my bit! *is with Holly on those little victories ^^*
