Wait, Captain Kangaroo isn't a cartoon about a superhero kangaroo? :C I always assumed it was!

Nah. It was a classic kids show hosted by Bob Keeshan (formerly Clarabelle the Clown on Howdy Doody), who played a grandfatherly fellow called Captain Kangaroo. "Captain" because his coat looked vaguely like a uniform, and "Kangaroo" because it had big pockets. He'd tell stories, take part in skits along with guest stars and puppet characters, introduce cartoons (including The Wombles, then new to American television), etc.

The series ran for 29 years before Keeshan called it quits. Not bad for a kid's show, even then.

You know, I watched Captain Kangaroo all the time as a kid, and that interpretation of the name never crossed my mind.

They should make a video game where furries get roped into watching "Captain Kangaroo" and then when they reach the room it's supposed to be shown in it will say "The kangaroo is a lie" on the walls. That is my completely original idea.

Us graymuzzle's remember some about that show and until just now I had really not put 2 + 2 together to = 5 ... there was Mr. Greenjeans, I was very young when the show left the air so don't remember much more about it... but, yeah ... he didn't have anything to do with Roo's.
