“Jimmy” (2001-2013)
On the morning of March 6th, 2013, I woke up and heard a loud, painful howling coming from the laundry room. I found my pet cat of the last decade, “Jimmy”, on the ground, howling and unable to move his back legs. I instantly told my father and we soon took him to the animal hospital. After they had checked him for vitals, they had found no pulse in Jimmy’s back legs. He had suffered a blood clot relating to his old age that had essentially severed his back legs from the rest of his body.
With all things considered, we had to go with the decision of putting him to rest with no real chance of significant recovery. When they had brought Jimmy in, he was injected with anesthesia and was soon approaching death. I scryed as though with a black mirror into the blackness of his eyes and saw a dawn filled with all the countless colors, all illuminated with a winged being covered in eyes soon to take flight. When the doctor came in for the final injections, that very dawn I had seen became a radiant bright light that glowed from the cat’s eyes for a moment. His eyes became black and milky-white at once, as though it was the sun and sea and sky in the spiritual realms I had visited once before.
