I haven't touched this thing yet so no its not supposed to look like that, I'm dreading the removal of the top hold down, its gross and it seems to be glued to the glass piece from years of grease

I do have 2 of these evil devices and I have already pulled one apart, the diaphragm was filleted and I'm afraid that it will not be simple to repair, I hope that this one fared better over the years
