DUDE! I loved these things and the purple Fob was my favorite color! I had a purple Fob puppet as a kid to go with my Teddy Ruxpin.

Oh gos\h, I had a Fob and Teddy and lots of books. I wanted Grubby but never got him. My sister had a Wooly Whatsit puppet too.

XD I knew that was from Teddy Ruxpin even before I clicked this link, I had one of those Tape Players shaped like him that told stories when you put the tapes in him!

A buddy of mine hacked a Teddy Ruxpin once. He explained it to me how the tapes worked to animate Teddy. Normal tapes would work depending on the 'spine', otherwise they wouldnt be compatible. Meaning, aside from no animation (or a seizure), there would be no playback. If i remember correctly; he figured out that the player reads the tapes as a two-channel recording. The right channel had the Audio and the left channel had the animation data. So, he did it just to make his Teddy say messed up things. The most tame stuff he managed to put together was Lisa Lampanelli and Richard Pryor comedies >_>...i wanted it.
