Thanks to king-crowned posting this awesome tutorial https://www.weasyl.com/submission/10289 , I was able to finally get custom brushes working in SAI. So I painted some trees and clouds, using brushes made from photos of trees and clouds.
Still trying to figure settings out. I've noticed an issue with tiles forming but it isn't too hard to fix.
