Except for the Pratt & Whitney engine, this A6M3 Zero is the real thing. It's one of only three actual Zeros still flying, other Zeros are replicas built from T-6 Texans or some other type of aircraft.

just easier to get than a 1940' vintage engine. Saw a History channel show where they built from scratch a Rolls Royce Merlin engine for a Restoration of a Spitfire. Took the restorers more than a year to finance, plan, build an then test it. Cost was in the hundreds of thousands of dollars but he sponsor had the means to get the money so they went for it. Old program, like 6 or 7 years ago.
