I started out researching the Hopi Indians, then I searched for the differences between Medicine Men/Women and Shamans, and I was led to some interesting information about the Passamaquoddy Indians (who�if I remember correctly�are a tribe from around the New York area). The Passamaquoddies have a legend about a Medicine Man, and the more I read it over, the more a character began to form in my mind.
The legend mentions that the Medicine Man�s face is half-red, and he has a single, all- seeing eye. So, I took this one step further, and created a character that held �quirks� from both of the tribes I had researched. My character, who I�ve named Lore�another word for �legend��wears beaded earrings that are the colors throughout many Hopi legends and beliefs.
Since this Medicine Man �has a single, all-seeing eye,� I have decided to make him blind in his left eye. The other eye is a blue color to create a contrast. One eye is bright, the other, dull.
His hair style is somewhat traditional. Some Indians wore their hair in fur wraps. Normally, the hair is divided in half, laid across the front and then wrapped (the opposite of Lore�s).

Yes, I know his hair looks funny, but don�t even get me started on how much of a pain it was to begin with!
