Man this image struck to me like glue. I've never been in a relationship in my previous life before college and meeting my current bf. I've witnessed bad break-ups with people that I knew, so I can't say I can speak for everyone whose been through those.

i have. many of us have. my parents who stayed together until the death did them part, were in many ways a marriage made in hell, but they did it, remained together, mostly i think, because each of their families didn't believe they'd be able to. i will always wonder what became of the first two loves in may life, where they are now, how well they are doing.

This whole series has been too good, and I imagine, hits so close to home for many people. I'm hit with a wave of melancholy with every image. Looking at this, it feels like my heart lifts up into my throat and then drops into my stomach. It's amazing. Even if these aren't something you have experienced, you have captured the feeling so well. I'm just so impressed with your work all the time, Hibbary.

There are! It was a total accident that all the depressing ones came first. I'm waiting on a shipment of paint that has been delayed by winter storms in the midwest for one of the happy ones and the other needs to be redrawn. I might have yet another still, but I'm running out of time and have to plan my panels. :<

Your use of color to tell the story is masterful. I cannot tell you how much I love work that plays with color, and this is one of the best I have ever seen.

This is exactly what has happned to me and what I do feel ... and probably even our looks are the same .. you may split up with someone .. and get along with someone else .. you might never come back to that someone with whom you have been before but if you did trully loved them you will never stop , its just not really possible

Hands and glances. The body language of each character seems just perfect on this; frontmost is especially affecting for me. Her expression and hands and stance, how she's wrapping the cipher's arm around herself protectively but still looking back - mirrored in seeming jealousy and bitterness, but with heartache too in her ex? Oof.

(And a good tweak on the nose for simplistic stories all round. Good on you!)

This is truly wonderful, and really true. You do a great job making each piece tell a story.

This is very accurate to a situation I was in... I loved the boy, still do though I've moved on. We were fantastic friends and lovers but every time we attempted a closed relationship things fell apart, we couldnt make it work no matter what we tried. We are now both happily in different relationships now but for a while it hurt to see the other in someone else's arms.

Yup, that one hits home.

Problem is people often aren't rational enough to realize that they are terrible for each other. :P Love can be rather blinding.

I think you did a fantastic job with this. As I look at this I can feel the disconnection between the partners who are "actively in love" with their SOs...and hte strong sense of yearning for somebody who really was better for them.

I relate to this in terms of one of my ex-friends. We were friends for so long an in the end it just didn't work out. I still care but I know it's better for us to just be apart. I think that's why I find this piece so relatable and powerful!

can defiantly relate to that, was in a relationship for over a year and a half where me and my partner literally were probably two of the worst people for each other, drove each other absolutely crazy, bitterly jealous, violent towards each other most of the time, 7/10 of the worst things that ever happened to me in my life was caused from that relationship yet we still loved each other relentlessly. loves a really really weird thing that is hard to understand because it comes in and stems from far too many forms
