In 2012, the MC-130W was redesignated as the AC-130W. The Whiskey gunships have a single 30mm cannon on the forward, left side (visible in this shot). The aircraft can also carry SOPGMs (Stand-Off Precision Guided Missile).

Recently, these aircraft have been modified to carry the GBU-39 SDB (Small-Diameter Bomb). They are launched from the BRU-61 bomb dispenser.
