This happened when I was about...14? 15?

Sometime before I turned 17. The Rainbow Falls were 4.2 miles up a mountain, and we forgot to bring water. Silly us!

My parents didn't let me drink from the fresh water springs, since they said I could get sick, but I did it anyway. People have been drinking from fresh water springs for thousands of years, and I recognized fresh water (Moving, emerging from the sides of cliffs, stone/clay filtration, etc.).

...It was one of the freshest drinks of water I think I have ever had. o.o

When we got to the waterfalls, it was beautiful! The name is derived from the color of the rocks behind it. Algae or some other life form or mineral or something caused the cliffs to take every color imaginable. And to make it even cooler, the pool at the bottom of the falls was full of buckeyes!
