Today I said goodbye to my cat, Panda. A silly little fella, he'd been a part of our family for 20 years. I will never forget his silly antics, his jumping between the couch and stairs, earning him the nickname "Lemur." Sometime around 10-10:25AM PST he passed over the rainbow bridge. Rapid organ failure, he just let go. I wasn't by his side, but maybe he didn't want me to see the moment he went beyond. He was already showing that he might not make it much longer, he was fairly old after all, but I guess he heard us talking about his vet appointment and didn't want to go on a table, he wanted to be in his own bed with his favorite t-shirt blanket. To think yesterday he was walking around, maybe more sliding, he wasn't very strong anymore, meowing for water because he was such a picky cat, he'd only drink if it was nearly overflowing his water dish, and he didn't quite like that other cat that stared at him from the other side of the dish (a clean reflective silver dish). He'd get picky over his wet food too. Some weeks he wanted Meow Mix, some Friskies, and some Fancy Feast. It was nice to keep a variety of flavors too, but he was always partial to chicken over beef. I'll never forget those green-yellow eyes that would stare at passing-by legs to swipe at, or the silly little trills as he would miss then reposition to try again. I'll always remember how he used to somehow get under my bed at my family's previous house and then not know how simple it was to get back out (he was a stubborn kitty). Rest in peace, Panda, you were the best cat a boy could ask for, and you were a good little friend for so many years of my life. I'll always love and remember you. I'll see you again one day, goofy lemur.
