Yes, I've heard all the arguments - Florida Law vs the reality of running a con.

I, for one, always loved seeing the younger furs attending along with their parents. We had a Thursday Prompt panel, and in the middle of our presentation, a young girl (I'm thinking about 12) came up, handed me her phone, and asked if I would read it; so I did, on open mike. It was a full story, and her writing was magnificent. I was virtually stunned.

At one point, I also had a small parent/child book I had printed up that the parent and child would read together. Little Napoleon did the artwork and it was quite a beautiful thing. I would give this to any parent who I saw with their child. (always give it to the parent first so they can check it out) One mother looked at it and told me it was very nice, and asked how much it cost. I loved her expression when I told her it was free.

Now, just the other day, my daughter-in-law told me my granddaughter (she's 12 now) has made herself a Fox outfit and was very much looking forward to going to Megaplex with me.

They used to go. In fact, the entire family went and we rented a suite. That was the best of both worlds. The kids very much looked forward to interacting with the fur suiters.

I felt so bad telling her it couldn't happen this year.

What I feel about the con - it's changed. In turning away from the future generation of furs, where do we leave ourselves. Money is not everything. Talent, and artistic ability is what we should be nurturing.
