I should’ve posted an update like this a long time ago. I want to announce that I’m going on an indefinite hiatus as Alpha Rain for now, and I’ll be un-publishing the Patreon page for the time being. I tried my absolute best to balance out my NSFW art/comics with Project Star Dog, thinking I could do both at once while also keeping up with my day job. I still love doing both, and in a perfect world, that would be reflected in my output. I kept deluding myself into thinking I’d get it right eventually, and that this was just a transitional phase that would see more horny art eventually.

But after over a year of trial, error, and multiple burnouts, I’ve decided I just can’t do that. It’s not fair to have anyone pay monthly for me when I barely have anything new to share anymore, and it hasn’t been healthy for me to have so many different things on my plate at once. I’ve effectively become a one man studio, handling the project’s art/storyboards, the directing, the music, the editing, the sound design, the file organizing, and social media all completely on my own. Trying to keep up my NSFW art alongside all that feels impossible. I’ve been unfocused, disorganized, and fatigued like never before, and I have to do something about that before the strain does any permanent damage. As it stands, I have to make a decision on what to prioritize.

Project Star Dog has been the biggest passion project of my entire life, and it’s helped me grow leaps and bounds as an artist and as a person. I think it has the potential to become something beautiful with a proud legacy someday, and I intend to see it through to the end. But that won’t happen if I keep going at my current pace. I didn’t want to have to make this post, but at some point, I have to face reality. I can’t keep biting off more than I can chew, and the project on its own already teeters on the edge of that as it is. Adding comics and regular art on top of that would just make me deteriorate to the point of no return.

I want to apologize for making so many promises that I couldn’t keep. I promised entire comics that haven’t materialized, and I kept saying that I’d get back to regular art output at some point. It was wrong of me to lead people on like that, and I should’ve known better than to let things get this far off track. My lack of experience with something this big really bit me in the ass, and I’m deeply sorry. If the day ever comes where the project is finally finished, I’d be more than happy to return here and start getting back to my roots once again. I see that as a goal to aspire to, but until then, I can’t know anything definitive.

To anyone who’s been following me up to this point, thank you. I owe every single one of you more than I could ever express. Your support has gotten me through a lot of dark periods in my life, and as I enter another one, I’ll remember all the fun we had to help keep my head above water.
