hhhhhh gonna be a long time til 2020 but I'm really hyped up about what info we've been given so far and the recent character trailers have got me HYPED

The combo attacks look fantastic?? It's kinda amusing (but really fitting) that Yusuke appears to have been the mastermind behind the two he's shown to take part in so far, especially seeing how extra they are. If it follows this trend, then I get the feeling that Makoto and Ryuji's combo attack might've been Ryuji's idea? Really looking forward to what other special combos we'll get to see. If we don't get one combo per pair, then I feel like we're likely to at LEAST see combo attacks for Makoto and Ann, Morgana and Ryuji, and Akechi and Akira/Ren. Honestly, I'm just really happy to see the the Thieves are being shown interacting with each other more, rather than their interactions with Akira/Ren being the sole focus.

Meanwhile, still really curious as to what story changes might be made. I mean we're getting 2 whole new characters and an additional semester apparently, and maybe even a new Palace, so it's possible the story might get shifted around a bit. Also, seeing cognitive!Mishima standing beside Shadow Kamoshida in that one preview image makes me wonder if any changes are going to be made to Mishima's early-game writing. After all, Mishima was basically acting as Kamoshida's informant in exchange to be less abused than the rest of the volleyball team. In P5 his cognitive form is just shown trapped in a cell in Kamoshida's Palace's dungeon area, as opposed to being actively tortured like the cognitive forms of the rest of the volleyball team. Cognitive forms are based on the Palace-owners perception of the real-world individuals they're based on, so will Mishima be forced to work more directly with Kamoshida in P5R? Will Kamoshida have him on a shorter leash or something?

Also, I'm kinda hoping they implement some of the scrapped concepts from P5 in P5R. The room customization thing was awesome, even if there wasn't a lot done with it before the idea was scrapped. The scrapped Confidant room decor items are also kickass dude like who DOESN'T want a full suit of armor or a sword-in-the-stone in their room??? But at the same time I'm kinda hoping stuff like the scrapped Doubt/Break mechanic doesn't make it into P5R, because that's going to make maxing out Confidants difficult as hell (and it already requires a good deal of strategy as is).

Also. Romance routes. I get the feeling we're gonna be able to romance Sae, which is cool and all for Sae fans, but like…does the 16-year-old protag really need another adult woman to date. There's like 4 guys his age that he could be romancing, one of whom actually brings him chocolate on Valentine's Day, but Atlus is full of cowards apparently

OH AND SPEAKING OF DUDES, I'm really interested what this new Maruki character will be like?? We know he's a Confidant and a counselor, so it's already evident that he's gonna be an interesting Confidant route, since Akira/Ren already kinda plays counselor to literally all of the Confidants. We gotta counsel the counselor, lads.

As for Kasumi, I'm not really buying the whole "she's actually a bad guy" theory I've seen going around. Based on what we've seen of her so far, it seems more reasonable for her to be a misguided hero rather than an out-and-out villain – she's doing what she thinks is right by apparently "granting wishes", but it's not actually helping the way she hopes it will.

Speaking of wishes tho I'm straight-up crying over them so far. Like Morgana's wish is to become human and Futaba's wish is for her mom to be alive, that's reasonable and all, those are both major recurring things in P5 (hell Futaba's Palace was half-based on her wish for her mom to be alive again). But the others. Ryuji wishing to be recognized for his talent for track and (apparently) being on good terms with the track team again. Ann wishing for success for her BFF Shiho and gushing about how cool Shiho is. Yusuke wishing for the Sayuri, his mother's final artwork, to finally be evaluated and shared with the public so that everyone can appreciate the original's beauty rather than the version that Madarame altered and released under his own name. If we see Akechi's dream and it's HIS mom being alive again then I'm just gonna start crying and never stop. (Also makes me wonder if we'll see Akira/Ren's dream…probably not, since he's the protag, but it's still an interesting idea.)
