After the war ended and many died.. the Tenebrae mages were the last to survive and had a plan. They began a ritual spell called the Black Moon, this allowed them to control the energy/magic left behind by those who died and fuse it with their own magic.

However, this ritual came at a price they willingly accepted, their life. The remaining 6 mages died and gained the power of Void Magic and went into stasis.. until they reawakened 3 years before the events of the Corruption war, and.. as you would guess.

They were the ones who started the war in the first place (the original 6 mages from the past, are the void mages who started the war in the present)

And so far, only one of them is dead, Blake, due to Axel killing him with his staff and this led to him gaining his powers in the first place and becoming a Skullsona
