Santous Species Q&A (G)
14 years agoSince creating my Santous species, only a few people have expressed interest in actually learning about them, rather than just adopting them, assigning them a gender and doing whatever with them.
For those of you who actually care about the species, here is some information about them:
Q: What exactly is a Santous? Is it feline? Canine? Or something else?
A: The Santous is actually it's own species. Meaning it's not a feline, nor is it canine. If anything, during it's original design, it was supposed to resemble a rabbit more than anything else.
Q: If there are males and females, what are the differences?
A: The difference between a male and a female Santous is actually the tufts on their ears and tails. Males have significantly larger ear and tail tufts, and usually weigh anywhere from 10-15 pounds more than a female and are a little larger in stature.
Male Female
As you can see, there are distinct differences between the sexes.
Q: How big are the Santous weight/height-wise?
A: Santous are normally the size of a small (not tiny) dog, and come to about the knees of your average adult human at the shoulder. Weight-wise, females are about 30 pounds and males can be anywhere from 40-45 pounds.
Q: Diet?
A: Santous are omnivorous, but despite their sharp teeth, have an affinity for fruits and fish. They'll eat almost anything as long as it's not rotten. They're excellent climbers, so they're easily able to to obtain their favorite foods!
Q: Social Habits?
A: Like wolves, lions and most other mammals, Santous are social animals and live with several others of their species in packs. Females give birth to anywhere from 1-4 kits per litter and are responsible for teaching them to hunt, as well as socializing with the rest of the pack. Males are the ones who hunt and forage, providing for pregnant females to ensure they are kept safe during the pregnancy.
There are no dominant males or females, all members of the pack are equal in rank and status.
Q: What about fur color and patterns? Is there any certain color they can't be?
A: There is no limit. Santous can be any color and any pattern. The possibilities are limitless!
Q: Do they have any specific personality traits?
A: No. Santous are like any other animal, and have the ability to adapt their own personality depending on their surroundings, as well as other factors. They are incredibly intelligent, and although they can't speak, they have no trouble communicating their feelings and emotions to other species, including humans.
Q: Habitat?
A: Ideally, the Santous prefer to inhabit lush forests where there is a plentiful supply of fruit and streams for fish.
This is all I can think of for now, if anyone has any questions, just ask away and I'd be more than happy to answer them!
