ideas
Fölna - icelandic for 'grew pale' or 'faded' since very first draft and titling makes it look like a ghost bird. Inspired by Veðrfölnir (weather-bleached), the hawk on the eagle on Yggdrasil.
Juchne - from the Bar Juchne, a giant bird in the talmud. Probably closer to a chicken though, since the focus on eating it and eggs. We'll see.

Zelonka - phenomena in the Russian version of Roadside Picnic. "A green colored substance that slithers like a long, thick snake randomly on the surface of the Zone. Possibly dangerous to humans, other properties unknown."
