I'm just happy to be here.

I'm very geeky and moderately intelligent (I don't like talking about IQ but I did get a 98 on my ASVAB, if that's at all important to you). After wasting my time trying to decide what I wanted to do in life I'm finally getting started on a BS in Computer Science (focusing on finishing an AS in Computer Information Sciences for now because my community college thinks CS is an art degree).

I'm a casual programmer and coder, writing a few one-off projects every now and then and gradually honing my skills. I code in C#, Python, PHP, and know a little bit about Javascript, C, and C++. I am an absolutely diehard Linux user (Zorin FTW) and I will harp on about it.

I am half English and half Irish, born in the US and raised in Hungary. I've been around a lot and I love travelling, though I'm rarely able to do it.

I'm fairly anxious and socially awkward, having difficulty relating to other people and communicating. Once I get to know someone, though, I really open up. I have a bad habit of universally deprecating and teasing humour. I also have a fairly dark and grim sense of humour and can be sarcastic when I get going.

I have a fairly sharp tongue and a bad habit of speaking my mind and not being able to walk away from arguments on the internet. Still, I like to think that I am improving on that front. If nothing else, I make a great degrader for people who are into that...though I don't have any strong dominant tendencies.

I've been through my fair share of bad and/or traumatic events in my life, and I like to think that I've been able to land on my feet through it all. I don't really attach myself emotionally to things that are happening in the world and I don't sweat things that I cannot change.

I enjoy both cats and large dogs equally. Pets in general are nice. I enjoy cuddles in front of the television.

I apologise that I don't have very many pictures of myself posted. I'm not the sort of person that takes a lot of pictures of me or what I do. I'm privacy-paranoid and also just not very vain.

My interests centre largely around video games. This has been a hobby/passion of mine for almost a decade now and I've gotten fairly decent at them. I mainly play EVE Online, an MMORPG set in a futuristic space-based world. I enjoy a wide variety of other types of video games as well.

These include grand strategy games like Hearts of Iron IV and Europa Universalis IV (which also play on my love of history and military strategy), first-person shooters such as Halo and Team Fortress 2 (I even did competitive Medic for a Steel-tier 6s team for a season!), racing games such as GRID and Forza, and many other types!

My fondness for video games goes beyond playing them. I've worked on amateur passion projects and made a few games, though none have really gotten anywhere of note. I'm currently studying Computer Information Sciences and I'm hoping to get a Bachelor's or Master's degree and pursue a career as a software developer and/or game developer. I'm also currently working on a multiplayer indie game as a side project!

My musical interests are somewhat eclectic. I enjoy synthwave, most prominently the works of Carpenter Brut. I enjoy electro swing from the likes of Caravan Palace, Wolfgang Lohr, Swingrowers, and others. I'm also a huge metal and classic rock fan, liking everything from AC/DC to Black Sabbath to Judas Priest.

I'm a casual fan of football (go Seahawks!) and I enjoy going to baseball games when I get the chance. I'm also excited for the prospect of a Washingtonian hockey team. I enjoy watching Star Trek (TNG, Voyager, DS9, and Enterprise, that is), Leverage, The Expanse, and a few other TV shows. I enjoy a variety of movies exempting romcoms and horror movies (I get heart palpitations when startled), and I very ironically like watching the FSoG series (it's fun to laugh at how awful its portrayal of BDSM is (I am a masochist, after all), and as a PNW native the location shots are extra hilarious).

I enjoy hiking and trainspotting, though I don't often go about doing it. I'm also a significant firearms enthusiast and I enjoy target shooting on a regular basis. I'd love to get to know someone who enjoys seeing and exploring the world!

I'm a former student and longtime fan of political science. I welcome a partner with differing politics, especially if they resolve disagreement with in-depth conversation and debate rather than knee-jerk reactionism.
