I first stumbled across TF art online in 1997 while doing some AltaVista searches for fantasy art like mermaids and centaurs. I found a site that had a link at the bottom of the page for the TF-Ring webring. I had a whole plastic binder folder of sketches and drawings I'd done since I was a kid (I still have that folder!), and was shocked to see it was an actual thing that other people were doing. I saw works from Ian Williams and Monty amongst others, and I though... I already draw this sort of stuff, I should have a go at this!
By 1998 I got myself an account at transform.to and started posting work. I bought a copy of Photoshop and taught myself how to ink, scan and colour an image. I think the first one I posted as "Unicorn Wish", and while the quality isn't great, I thought the colours were nice. While the TF-Ring was great and a few artists at the time had their own page forums to talk about their own art, I was a little disappointed that there wasn't any central place to talk about TF art in general, so I created a general TF forum called (I think) TransForum, and I remember speaking to WereKatt and a few other artists to get them to add a link to it on their sites (as well as my own). The forum site worked well and was well supported around the 1999 to 2002(?) period, but there were some disruptive characters and I became less involved in it over that time. It was probably because of this that I stopped producing art in 2002 after a particularly disappointing encounter. That wasn't a bad thing, as it gave me a chance to branch out into other art styles, which I did.
I think TransForum died around then as it had become a bit toxic and there were other better sites that had appeared by then, so it had become rather redundant anyway. I had an extended break from TF art after that as real life got way too real, but that's not a story for here. I started to do a little art again for fun from 2007 that Darin from Naga's Den was happy to share on his site, and a few more up to 2012 that I posted on a DeviantArt account that no longer exists. I don't draw anymore, but I've instead focused on other interests. Recently, work on developing 3D skills has drawn me back into TF art, but more as a combination of the old TF art and the non-TF comics that I've done.
