Poison is an American glam metal/hard rock band that achieved success in the mid-1980s to mid-1990s. The band was formed in 1981 under the Sami Stevens, and consisted of lead vocalist Bret Michaels, Rikki Rockett, Bobby Dall and C.C. DeVille. Moving to Los Angeles on 6 March 1984, they started playing big clubs and in 1983 eventually changed the name of the band from Paris to Poison.
To date, the band have released eight studio albums, four live albums, and four compilations. Poison have sold over 30 million records worldwide and have sold 16.5 million records in the United States alone. The band has also charted 10 singles to the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100, including six Top 10 singles and the Hot 100 number-one single, "Every Rose Has Its Thorn".
