Hi! I'm peri llwynog, a bespectacled non-binary silver fox living in the southwestern United States of America. I'm a queer geek of many colors, but most especially into gaming (electronic and tabletop), science fiction, and everything delicious. I draw a lot of comics, make pixel/digital illustrations, write, and program computers. I somehow parlayed that into a career as an independent games developer. I am also an essayist (mostly criticism/literary reviews) and poet (of the strange and speculative kind) on the topics of queer science fiction, intersex issues, intersectional feminism, and futurism. When I do R&D or literary writing, this makes me "highly qualified to overanalyze issues related to alterior identities" but my primary research area is in machine learning and natural language processing as applied to systems and network software and their Human-Computer interfaces. In other words: I make spam filters and novel ways to play AR and VR games.
As a writer, it means I happen to read English, French, Spanish, Welsh, some German, Japanese, and kinda maybe Vietnamese and Cantonese if I use dictionaries. But as I am also deaf/hard of hearing and autistic, it means I converse in SEE and ASL once I get going, but merely wave my hands around in LSQ/LSF. I can frequently talk, listen, and lip read in English, Japanese, and French (Cajun/Québécoise). I also speak very vulgar/cafe and schoolyard Tejano/North American Spanish.
In terms of video games, I am in the credits for some versions of: DefJam RapStar, BioShock Infinite, Minecraft, Ace of Spades, some non-RuneScape Jagex projects, Zwinky, Zwinky Cuties, Dog Show Friends, Baker Street, CounterSpy (shortlisted for a BAFTA Games Best Debut Game and rejected out of hand by the panel, my greatest honour in Scotland), Gigantic, MX vs. ATV: ALL OUT, Monster Jam: Steel Titans and unreleased titles for Switch, PSVR, Google Stadia (yes, I worked for Google), multiple Xbox generations, PlayStation 3/4/5, and iPhone/iPad.
I love playing weird/"nobody has heard of this" games, especially ones meant for festivals, art installations, and other "serious" applications outside of the usual computer or tabletop experience. I really love getting exposed to new ways to play and reminders that the activity of playing really is much more understandable than the Wittgenstien fans will tell you. I started focusing on networked games in university in large part because online games often give far more opportunities to have different play experiences with people you would never otherwise meet. However, I'm not a big fan of "genrefication" of games, especially since everything has always been an RPG in the sense that most English-language publications define the term now. I got into MMOs when they were called "MUD"/"MUCK"/"MUSH"/"MOO"s and honestly would probably rather try to find a better science fiction MUCK than play the latest attempt to be the new World of Warcraft or League of Legends. That said, I'm currently quite obsessed with Final Fantasy XIV.
I tend to state my opinions strongly, but hold them delicately because I've found that polite disagreement and discussion is the best way to expand my mental horizons. I'm happy to talk shop with furries, gamedevs, aspiring writers, comic book weirdos, and carnies as long as they understand this phrase: this fox is queer as fuck and will not compromise her values, including her right to speak French in the United States and United Kingdom. Ni roi, ni maitre, mais mes deiux? They/She are my own. I identify as therian and have a syncretic personal faith drawing on my Buddhist, Jewish, and ex-Catholic upbringing.
I rarely post finished pieces to FurAffinity these days because I try to get them published somewhere else first. I find Weasyl, Patreon, GitHub, and itch.io tend to do better at accomidating my needs as both a writer and user, but will try to respond to notes and messages here within a week or two.

I don't want to learn another furry friend has died between my journal posts by reading an obit.
I miss everyone from MFF a lot, but I miss the man I could never talk to the most.
Goodbye, Chitown. Maybe next year I'll be able to sit there without everything frozen to my face.
