Love Never Dies (G)

Love Never Dies
She fell to her knees as if she had just taken her last breath. Praying to God that it wasn’t true. Sad to say, it was true…he would never come home again. Sally felt so alone at that point when the police had to leave the front door to return to their business. The cell phone rang, and it didn’t make any sense of what she saw on the caller id when she looked at it. Even though she was afraid of answering it, she hit the green button and answered with a tiny voice.

"Hello?" Sally was so confused at this point. She didn’t know what to believe. All she could hear on the other side of the call was their wedding song. This made her drop the phone in horror and she went into shock. After she blacked out, Sally was surprised to wake up in the local town hospital. The nurse walked in to check up on her and she asked if Sally was feeling any better.

"How did I get here?" The last thing she remembered was her cell phone ringing.

"Your mother brought you in here. She said that someone called her on her cell and said that you needed to be checked on. So she left her house and knocked on your door and found you sprawled out on your living room floor. She then called 911 and then they brought you in. That happened like 4 days ago." The nurse was a petite little blonde in her twenties. Sally remembered when she was that age…that was when she met her true love and those were the happiest of times. To bad that was then and this is now. She shouldn’t have let him enlist in the army. When he got that letter that said he was being drafted, he was so scared but excited at the same time. She knew that his every intention of going into the army in the first place was to make her proud to have him as her lover. A couple months went by of him getting ready to go. Then the time came where she had to drive him to the airport and say goodbye. It was a choking memory to remember, that was their last heartfelt kiss. It was every bit as romantic as they both made it, scared for life that they would never see each other again. Sally had to be the brave one and let him go walk to the walkway. Just as he was about to disappear from her sight, turned around one more time to look at her. That smile was just for her and her alone. Then that was the last time she saw him. He was over there for 7 months.

"Thanks for telling me. Do you think you can contact my mother for me and tell her I wish to see her?" Sally hoped that her mother would believe what she had experienced back at the house.

"Sure thing, Mrs. Hirthan." The nurse left the room in a hurry to get things done. A few hours had passed then her mother walked into the room and straight to Sally’s bed to give her a big hug.

"How are you feeling, honey?" Her mom asked her rather intensely.

"I am feeling much better. Thank you for asking. Do you believe in ghosts or spirits of some sort?" Sally was hopeful that she didn’t come across as a lunatic.

"What is all this about, Sally? Did you hit your head too hard on that bottom step?"

"Well just so you know Ray died in action a few days ago. After I found out my cell phone rang and so I picked it up. On the other end of the call however I heard our wedding song."

"Honey I am so sorry! Why don’t you stay with me for a couple days after you get out of the hospital? Until you get better." Sally’s mom did not seem to understand what she was trying to explain to her.

"Mom, I believe that Ray is trying to contact me from the spirit world. He wants to tell me something important but I just don’t know what it is." Sally was getting a tad bit frustrated. "I know you probably think I am crazy for saying this, but I am telling you the truth."

"I believe you 100%, darling. There is never any doubt in my mind that this would happen." Her mom was terribly worried about her and wanted to make sure she was going to be ok for the next week or two after she is released out of the hospital. "How bout I stay with you for the next two weeks to make sure you are ok? Would that be fine with you?"

"That would be good, and then you could help me figure out what Ray is trying to say to me. That would help him cross over." Sally was glad that her mom was going to stay with her for a couple of weeks. "Now that we got it settled, I think I need to rest some more. I will talk to you again when I am well rested."

"Ok sweet dreams. See you when you wake up." Her mom showed herself out the door, then out to the parking lot. As Sally was sleeping, she was having a really strange dream. Ray was looking out the window up at the moon, when Sally was walking down the stairs Ray turned around to face her and sit her down to talk to her.

"I know you are sleeping at the hospital right now. I am sorry for accidently putting you in that situation. I just wanted to tell you something before I went on to heaven. No matter what, promise me that you will always keep me in your heart. When you are ready I want you to find a guy that will treat you with respect and keep you happy. I will always be there to watch over you my darling." Ray was so sweet to her. As he said his last words to her, he tipped her chin up and kissed her so tenderly on the lips and squeezed her tight against his dream body. Then he vanished and Sally woke up.

" I love you too, Ray." Sally was happy that he crossed over and wouldn’t suffer anymore. "I will see you again someday" Then Sally went back to sleep. Only this time she was more peaceful and had a smile on her face.
