When those who you look up to disappoint you is the biggest stab to your self-esteem

On July 24th, 2025, my life changed for the better with my purchase of a Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition VR Headset, finally, I had a way to open up and get to meet my friends in a landscape where seeing them in person is harder than normal, but even that can be tainted by ego and people who think you're beneath them.

There was someone on Twitch who I also follow here that I saw as a friend, she was funny, nice, and I wanted to hang out with her. So, after being in VRChat for a couple weeks and knowing they also had the platform, I privately messaged them hoping they would say something like, "You have VRChat, and want to be friends? I am honored that you would ask me in private so not to cause drama." No, what I got instead was a berating live on her stream, saying "she doesn't friend those she hasn't seen in person." I could understand that, because my Con schedule plans have been in the toilet from family drama, but to not reply privately and make me a fool in her stream and while I was in chat killed my trust in wanting to friend anyone like her.

Personally, there are only two cons I attend given the chance, ACFI and TFF but with the covid stuff, travel expenses, con hotel changes, and the constant family drama I have had to endure, going to any convention is a hard endeavor to achieve. So, instead of sitting there in her chat and be mocked and ridiculed by those who don't know me, I left, and blocked her. No point in getting hurt again by someone who prefers to stroke their ego more than being someone who could've just been accepting to a request for friendship.

I left the person's name off for the purpose of being the bigger person. I don't want any retaliatory action done to this individual. They lost me as a friend, and Karma will get back at them. So, keep your torches and pitchforks in storage. I will never try again with her so I don't want any of her flying monkeys to comment and say I should forgive her.

Forgiveness is for those who truly have remorse in their actions and seek to truly repair what they've torn asunder.

But, once you burn the bridge to me, it stays ashes.
