Unimportant yappin' about drawing tablets (G)
5 months agoMeow meow~Hello everybody, just felt the need to make a new journal cuz the last one was from New years, oops :P. I don't write so many journals, i can never think of anything that i think people would like to hear about. If you're a fan of reading journals, i'd be interested to know what kind of things you like to hear about. Maybe i can write journals more often > w <.
Anyway, work has been going pretty well lately (of course thank you to all my wonderful regular commissioners, or existance sponsors as i mentally refer to you as). I'm getting a bit worried about my tablet, as it's been acting up lately, but no major issues so far, plus i got it for free and its lasted me...let's see, maybe 4 years? Not bad for sure, haha. I think when the time inevitably comes and it gives up on me, I would like to get a non-waccom tablet. I've only had waccom tablets the entire time i've been doing digital art, but last time i bought one, probably around 2016 or so, i feel like there wasn't a lot else on the market. Now it seems there are a lot of options for just-as if not better tablets for way cheaper then your avrage waccom. Oh, i currently have the waccom intous pro large, btw <3. Very happy with it, when i got it i thought it was way too big, and it pretty much still is, huge pain to carry around if i ever go anywhere, but i feel like itd feel super weird drawing on a regular sized one now.
Anyway, kinda anxious about making a good decision when im gonna have to buy a new one, will absolutely die if i sink a buncha money into one of these things and it sucks lol. When i was younger i used to want a cyntique so bad, but after trying out drawing on a couple of ipads i think i actually prefer a non-screen tablet.
I do sketch traditionally sometimes, but rarely. I have a sketchbook with rly thick paper bcs on occation i go crazy and decide to use like 5 different kinds of paint, markers, water, perfume, candle wax, hairdye and all those kinda things that only rly thick paper can handle, but most of the time i just sketch with a ballpoint pen, so i end up with a sketchbook full of really good paper where 80% of it could easily have been done on printer paper X3
For any of yall who are also artists, what kind of equipment do you prefer, and is there a medium you can't stand? personally i kind of hate markers, i can never get the color flat, they bleed through everything and they take up SO MUCH SPACE. For you art enthusiasts who are not artists yourself, what medium do you prefer to look at?
