I commissioned an artist by referral from another artist I really admire. I hopped on the stream she was hosting and started interacting with her and the other guests. I misunderstood a comment that had been made, and made another comment about being somewhat disturbed by finding out the nature of artists getting canceled. The wording I used was misconstrued, and I was immediately persecuted and labeled a cryptofascist. I decided to leave and contact the artist directly in an attempt to explain myself out of the hostile environment that was created. I had had alsopreviously logged into the stream on a different computer that was still playing in another room. While walking into the room to shut the computer down, I was horrified to hear my words being read out loud on her stream. I then got back on to the chat, asking her to not read my direct messages out loud, but the whole thing has since gone to shit.

I'll admit I don't take rejection well in social situations, especially when trying to make friends, and interactions like these are extremely traumatizing. I believe this person is good and decent, but this particular occasion was extremely unprofessional, inappropriate, and I found it to be personally devastating. It will forever affect my confidence in reaching out to artists.
