Hello!
I am Sam of Northwind Creations.
I make fursuits, fursuit accessories, polymer miniatures, miscellaneous media sculptures, sketches and paintings.
I also love playing the piano, dancing, cooking, swimming, hiking, horseback riding, making friends, and passing out free hugs!!
When I am not in the dealer rooms, you will most commonly see me wandering around conventions in various suits, costumes and cosplay.
At Furcons, I am most commonly in Shaggy, a mixed breed scruffy looking, flop-eared dog. But I have 11 other fursuits I let out for some lovin' on occasion!
At ComicCon, I have been known to show up in a variety of cosplay including characters from Firefly, Star Trek, Star Wars, Doctor Who and more!
At Blizzcon, I have a new costume every time, but I have previously been an Orc Shaman, Troll Druid, Arthas, Illidan and a training dummy.
At Trekkie/Trekker cons, I am almost always a Klingon, in the event I am not a Klingon, I may show up as an Aenar or a Borg.
At RenFaires I am always a Knight and am usually active in mounted Jousting events on a stocky dappled horse called Omega.
I sculpt, sketch, paint and craft in various styles. I mostly focus on toony or kawaii styles of sculpture and art, but I have also done many highly detailed, very realistic pieces. I love working on dragons and monsters, or other mythical/fantasy creatures, including unicorns and faeries. Anything with wings or massive amounts of scales is my favorite. I love doing intricate work on thousands of scales, though as a result, a heavily scaled commission can take a long time to complete.
When I am not sculpting, painting, sketching, or building fursuits, I spend my time outdoors as much as possible. I love horseback riding, hiking, swimming, and bird watching. I love to garden and am most fond of extreme miniatures; Si Roses, Spoon Tomatoes, Teacup Grapes and others. I am always on the lookout for more miniature plants for my indoor and outdoor gardens.
I have two horses; Omega and Catalyst (Cat). Omega is my jousting steed, she is coming up on 14 year old and I have had her for 13 years. She's my baby. She is a mix of Icelandic and Belgian, but looks more Belgian, very stout and stocky, super smart, and a joy to be around. I can ride her anywhere and trust her completely, she really takes care of me. Cat is a young cross country prospect. She is 5 years old and I have had her for 3. She is a very leggy Irish Hunter. I am currently training her for cross country and hope to compete with her in a couple years.

Miniature Commissions (G)
I've already had more than two dozen messages regarding my commissions for miniature sculptures, so I feel I had better get this up on my page as soon as possible.
1) YES, I gladly do commissions for miniature sculptures - however, I will not be able to do any until I return to my home in China. I am currently in New York with family until after the Christmas Holiday, and while I *do* have many of my supplies on hand, I am afraid I do not have enough to properly fill orders. Most of the miniatures I am doing now are just for friends and family in the area.
2) What can I sculpt? My true love is food, and I can do SOME items down to the 1/48th scale (aka Quarter Scale, and O scale) -- which is extremely tiny. Usually this scale is limited to flower boxes, furniture and so on - BUT, I have done some food items at this scale In addition to food, I can also do furniture, decor (fine china, vases, books, wall clocks, mantle pieces, grandfather clocks, etc), and this year (2014) I have been refining my skill in realistic miniature animals (mostly horses).
3) Prices? I try to keep my prices extremely reasonable for two reasons... one is that my medium of choice, polymer clay, is not very expensive to start with... and two is because I simply LOVE creating this stuff and getting photos of it. I also absolutely do NOT gouge you on shipping prices. Shipping from China to the USA is stupid cheap. I can ship to other countries as well, but some are a bit more expensive than others. I always charge exact shipping costs; do not charge extra for packaging material or insurance, and always make sure the package has signature or delivery confirmation.
4) Whats with the different coins? I live in China most of the year, I have family in the USA, and some very close friends in Canada. I have coins from all three of those places. I have also obtained coins from Germany, Australia, Russia and Scotland. Coins of the same value are often times different sizes, so I try to stick coins in the photo that the commissioner of that particular item is familiar with so they can see how their item turned out. (Most of these photos in my gallery are items that have already sold). Often times, just saying "2.5 centimeter" is confusing and hard to visualize. Placing it next to a coin or other familiar object helps.
5) Complete custom creations. Yes, I can do complete custom work. I can work from a visual or verbal explanation of what you want, you can send me text explanations or we can get into Skype and discuss it. I have done thousands of types of food from a bunch of different cultures, hundreds of decor items, and at least two dozen ponds/lakes with and without fish, frogs, plants, rock-work and waterfalls. Customs are absolutely not a problem.
You are more than welcome to look through my gallery to see examples of what I am capable of. I will be adding more photos on (almost) a daily basis. I hope to eventually establish a bit of a foot-hold here for my miniature and larger sculptures, as well as (in the future) my fursuits and fursuit accessories.
I also hope to eventually track down the people I had fun with at Anthrocon 2014 so I can +Watch them here! If any of you remember seeing Shaggy (brown, scruffy looking, flop-eared dog) or Koo-ee (Koala bear, seen in my icon picture), that was me!
Don't be afraid to toss me a message or a shout for any reason. I don't bite.
