Am a bit of a newfur, but pleased to meet you all! I am a calico Maine Coon kitty girl. Though very happily married in real life, I love to meet people and play around. I am a geek of many flavors. I love and adore rainbows, and it goes beyond anything political. Rainbows are for everyone!! I love LOVE, hope, fun, and trying to be good to people.
As for my name, It was actually the name of my first role playing character back in the late 1990's. So no, I am not named for the character in the Warriors books. I have had this name for over a decade. It was mine first! :p
I've always felt very close to cats. I was told by my mom that before I was born she had a cat with whom she felt very close and felt she wished to be her child. Shortly before I was born, she "fell" out the window of her 17th floor apartment. After I was born, my first word was meow. And despite being allergic to cats (though I have since grown out of it) I could never stay away from them. Stray cats come to me up off the street for petting. I have many personality traits that are cat-like, ask any of my friends! I can be shy and quiet at first, but then I tend to be unphasable, open minded, silly, picky, though with an underlying pragmatic bit also.
I sometimes go to King Elliot's events, and DragonCon, and local things down in South Florida. Hope to see you there! =^.^=

June and I drove up on Thursday night, pretty much just in time to check in and crash. On Friday I surprised myself waking up extra early, despite the late hour we made it in. We checked in with registration and schmoozed about until it was time to go to Fun Spot.
Fun Spot is one of those places I always wanted to go to but never really wanted to spend the time and money when I was up in Orlando. It was daytime, so it was really hot. I got quite a bit of sun. My cart wasn't so good on one of the racetracks and that kinda scared me off them. But I went on a few other carnival rides too. We walked over to Black Market Minerals. And there were plenty of people in the blacklight golf course being drunkenly silly. So overall that was amusing.
June and I didn't realize the buses wouldn't come back until 5pm, so we were kinda bummed having to sit around and wait when we were kinda done with it by 3:30-4ish. It wasted some time and made us a bit late for our dinner plans. But there were plenty to drink and good company. Grungar3x7 held off the crowds to get all us ladies onto the first van. That really impressed me, because that was a pretty big crowd! It'd have scared me anywhoo.
Once back at the hotel, we were tired but really had not time to spare to make our dinner reservations at the Animal Kingdom Lodge Resort's restaurant Boma. It's a buffet with really unique African flavors. And we spent time looking at the hotels wonderful decor, and the savannah outside. And there was a woman letting people bang on djembes. It was as fun as a minipark.
When we got back to the hotel, our friends Kit and CS arrived. They would be rooming with us. Everyone else went out to party, but I was really zoinked and passed out while finishing my book.
Saturday I once again woke up early. I apparently almost woke up to interrupting people being a bit active. Honestly, I don't think I'd have cared as long as I could get to the bathroom. lol. I'm a zombie when I first wake up, and being nearly deaf, I sleep like the dead. June and I ate breakfast downstairs. Apparently the hottub was a tepidtub, and it looked kinda messed up walking by. There were many people who had never gone to sleep kinda drifting around. It felt a little surreal. After eating, I went up and passed out again until about 9:40.
June woke me up to remind me it was time to go get our artist vouchers and commission stuff. I almost didn't get up, but i'm so glad I did. There were many talented artists there and so much of it looked wonderful. I pretty much came on a tight budget and couldn't commission them all. I really wanted something cutesy and Khirnah's stuff was just adorable. It was my first badge commission and I didn't have all the details of what I should look like planned out. But she did a wonderful job of capturing the spirit I wanted. I also loved the piece LadyLaBlanc did for June and look forward to getting one from her too.
We did a whole lot of nothing on Saturday. Nothing was particularly planned, and yet tons happened!
Went to IHOP where the food was cold and the service kinda sucked. But the balloon man was there. June asked for a hat with ears, and somehow he ended up giving her this epic kinda modular unicorn penis hat. It was amazing.
Since we were going to the water park the next day, I got a waterproof thingie to keep my hearing aid in at the "Big Tittied Mermaid" store.
Back at the hotel I downloaded this week's Doctor Who. Despite only a fair signal strength, the speeds were fantastic and I had it within an hour! Yes I know... even whilst away, I must have my Doctor. I also found a friend who gave me back my crazy rainbow umbrella. Then June and I sneaked away to Publix to buy cake.
That evening, after wearing my suit under my clothes all day, I finally made it to the pool. The dinner provided was more like finger foods. It really wasn't much, but I guess it was enough because that was all I had. People sucked at karaoke, but there was a few good ones. It was funny to watch people jump into the pool, and all play together.
Later on when things calmed down, we brought the cake down to CS at the hot tub. On the way we ran into a bunch of suited folks and some of the people who run the whole thing. We honestly couldn't have planned it better. They all joined us in wishing him a happy birthday! And the cake was indeed delicious and moist.
Spent some time wandering and taking pictures. We also got someone to let us watch Doctor Who on his computer in the art room. Some people joined us watching and it was nice. There was also a room party. I can be a very shy kitty in situations like that, and it was so loud that I couldn't understand much. So I was signing to June. Coincidentally, there was another deaf person there and we chatted a bit. It was pretty cool and I was happy I knew enough sign to hold the conversation.
Also, I'm not sure when and what day but apparently someone criticized June for using "SuitSign" when unsuited. Shortly before coming to this I discovered that idea of suiter's using sign. It makes sense and I think it's cool. I think sign language is fun and wonderful. But people should also be aware that there are those who need it outside of suit too. I am completely deaf in my left ear and about 75% loss in my right ear. It makes nosy situations really hard to understand stuff, so I do sign sometimes in situations like that.
On Sunday there was supposed to be free pancakes. I've heard Simba's pancakes are pretty amazing. But after standing in line in the sun for an hour and then see vans just then pull up with the ingredients - I had to give up. We had fixings in the room and got ready to go to Wet N' Wild.
We spent most of the time on the lazy river. I love lazy rivers. It's cool and no lines and no tubes to haul around. We hit up one other ride and then it was omnom time. The hot dog and hamburger buffet was good and we stuffed ourselves. Then we went on several more rides before heading back to the pavilion to rest, socialize, and dry off before leaving.
It's a bit of an amusing romantic comedy like thing that everyone seemed to think June and I were a couple. I'm married, but I may have some bi-tenancies. So I was thinking even if we're not, our characters might be. Or maybe simply best friends.
That evening I got an invite to see a play that one of my friends who live in Orlando was helping run for the Fringe Festival. It was a Goblin Party, which is basically a Labyrinth shadowcast done Rocky Horror style. It was really fabulous, and an amazing way to wrap things up.
The next day I had a bit of con-withdrawal as we packed up. After a weekend being so overwhelmed by so much happening, it felt ghostlike to walk the empty halls and see people sitting quietly mourning that we all have to leave. I know the carnival always comes around again though. So we had ourselves a meal and a cute little sushi place called Sakura Sushi and then headed home. I had a great time, and I look forward to the next time.
