Pulling my hair out: An Animus update (G)
The development of Animus has been fraught with issues since day 1. I've experienced homelessness, had a computer stolen, lost nearly a full release worth of data (thanks GitHub), and more since I set about creating this (not so) little RPG. I've recently suffered another blow to development progress and I started to think that maybe the project was cursed.
That was until about three days ago though.
I've decided to write, develop, and release a series of short interactive games that build up the lore of my game world. I'm calling them Miniature Role Playing Games, MRPG's for short, and They'll explore the history of some places in the Casani Empire, important historical figures, and allow me to rebuild the Effigy toolkit again without having to do it in the scope of a massive RPG.
They'll still be full of places to explore, monsters to fight, characters to fuck, and quests to complete, but I really need to focus on getting Effigy working and getting it fully featured and as bullet-proof as possible before I turn a game out the size of the main RPG. As they get made, you'll have more freedom to do what you want, create your own signature fighting style when I get around to adding spells and classes, create your own character instead of the pre-made's for the first story or so, and loads more stuff.
I'm also sick of writing the word Animus, so I have renamed the game after putting it to a poll on Discord. Animus is now Fur And Claw, and the MRPG's are called Fur And Claw Adventures. It's kind of like having a main D&D campaign that's being built up and also getting a few books of fun one-shot's and side campaigns.
I also don't trust GitHub anymore after being fucked around and having data go missing, so I've changed my SCM to the Atlassian system which will allow me to use Mercurial and integrate their Jira bug tracker with Trello. That way, the public (you guys) can see what I see in a way that's much easier to understand if you're a non-programmer. I'll also be able to create an in-game bug tracker that can talk directly to Trello boards and create cards so that I have a continuously up-to-date backlog to sift through and attempt to replicate before deciding what to fix and what to leave in as a "quirk" or "known shippable" which could be bugs that don't negatively affect the game flow, but ones that I should still keep an eye on.
Thanks for being so patient, and hopefully I'll have something to show you in a little while.
