Welcome to the Official Mecari Den. Just wanted to go through some guidelines with you all as you have the fun task of creating your very own Mecari!
>Mecari are a species based on a few different types of animal species, specifically Wolf, Bat and Cervine/Bovine types(deer, gazelle, etc) so there are loads of possibilities available, however there are a few design restrictions in place to make sure it is distinguishable as a Mecari.
>First thing I'm gonna talk about is body Structure. Mecari are small in stature and are always featured with a small bobbed deer-like tail, and are very wolf/canine like in appearance.
>They have Large webbed wings, retractable hook like claws in their paws and on some occasion can be born with hooves on the feet. They have large ridged bat type ears for which they use for their echolocation in hunting, locating and stunning their prey. Their diet consists mainly of meat but they are an omnivorous species.
>Males are always distinguishable with their feature of Horns or Antlers, which they shed yearly as they grow. However...there are some females which will feature small stubby type horns, but very rarely will they ever have this feature.
>Eyes, while usually featured with a white sclera ( white of the eye) they can sometimes turn black, which usually signifies that they have experienced severe emotional trauma in their past, that has corrupted a portion of their very being.
>Mecari pups are always born pure, and potentially blind, and develop their eyesight over their first few days of life. They always feature distinct spot markings on their hind quarters, that MAY have a possibility of fading as they get older.
>I'm really sorry, there are no hybrids.
>>>And please...I can not stress this enough, please abide by these guidelines as you do your designs.
More details will be added soon (and more can be found in our future journals), please be patient as we work to define our new guidelines for this brand new species!
that's basically it! Have fun. And welcome to the Colony!

Mecari Design Guidelines (G)
SPECIES CHARACTERISTICS AND DESIGN GUIDELINES:
Mecari are an open-species and are not very limited in their appearance since they are a mixture of so many things. However there are a few design restrictions in place to make sure it is distinguishable as a Mecari, and that it can't be confused with something else. In owning a Mecari, you must follow the species rules, there are NO EXCEPTIONS!
DISCLAIMER:Mecari are still a developing species...so some lore and species aspects could come to change in the future!
Hybrids of Mecari are NOT allowed
Cybernetics/Robotic Mecari of any kind are NOT allowed
Mecari are a species based on a few different types of animals: specifically Canine/Vulpine breeds, Bat, and Cervine/Bovine types (deer, gazelle, etc). So there are loads of possibilities available.
As far as the body structures goes- Mecari are small in stature ( averaging 3.5 ft to 4ft in height) and are always featured with a small bobbed deer-like tail, and are very wolf/canine like in appearance.
They have Large webbed wings, retractable hook like claws in their paws and on some occasion can be born with hooves on the feet. They have large ridged bat type ears for which they use for their echolocation in hunting, locating and stunning their prey. Their diet consists mainly of meat but they are an omnivorous species.
Both Male and female usually feature horns or antlers, which are shed yearly as they grow. However...there are cases of Mecari born without horns (but this is rare).
Eyes, while usually featured with a white sclera (white of the eye) they can sometimes turn black, which usually signifies that they have experienced severe emotional trauma in their past, that has corrupted a portion of their very being.
Mecari pups are always born pure, and potentially blind, and develop their eyesight over their first few days of life. They always feature distinct spot markings on their hind quarters that may or may not fade as they get older.
Mecari mate for life.
Mecari go through a “coming of age ceremony” as they transition into adulthood. It is around this time they get their powers, and their trial usually consists of some sort of survival scenario or great hunt. But this can vary by tribe.
>>>So in summary, Mecari MUST have:
-White or Black Sclera (whites of the eye)
.
- Small Rabbit or Deer-like tails
.
- Bat ears
.
-Bat wings
.
-Canine-like face shape
.
- Two legs, two arms, and two wings. (Exceptions would be limbs lost in battle, in this case prosthetics are allowed, but they cannot be cybernetic)
.
-Canine nose
.
-Retractable hooked claws on paws.
-Features such as battle scars, chewed/ripped ears, and wounds are perfectly ok.
Powers and Special Abilities:
Magical Abilities
⦁ Mecari are closely in tune with Nature, and inherit basic abilities linked to their inherited elements.
⦁ Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, and Lightning are the most common.
⦁ being linked to the elemental aspect of Spirit is an extreme rarity (permission required for this trait as it needs to remain limited)
Racial Abilities
⦁ Mecari are able to use a type of Sonar that consists of High Pitched barks and screeches, which can be picked up easily by their huge webbed ears. The size of their ears make it near impossible for anything to get the jump on them. This ability also help with creating optimal hunting conditions.
⦁ They have very keen eyesight which becomes very useful as a nocturnal species. They can see as clearly in the dark as if it were daylight.
