Howdy and Happy New Year!
My year 2025 has been… mixed! While I haven’t had a particularly bad year personally, it has been affected by the loss of my mother, so I can’t decently say it’s been a great year ^v^”
BUT talking solely about me, there’s been one big thing!
I’ve realized a few months ago that I could consider living from my arts. For years it seemed like a stupid idea, as I have a very safe well-paid job and have always enjoyed drawing on the side. But this year, I’ve more and more realized that my life was coming to a stale state, and that I could very much be in the exact same place in 10 or even 20 years if I was to accept it. It seems like… not the best time to quit a job and try to live from the arts, but if I don’t challenge myself a bit, then I will always stay in the same place.
If I can consider this, it’s also thanks to you people. I’ve been getting a constantly high demand on my commission openings, always higher than what I could take. I’m someone that has no trouble drawing a whole lot, the issue has always more been to see if I could get enough demand, and it seems like it couuuuld be there.

So this year is going to be a test year! I want to see if I can produce enough and if people are interested enough in my arts to sustain a decent income. I still need to save a bunch of money for the plan to work out, so the move won’t be for 2026, but I’m hoping for 2027!
As of the plan, here are how I’ll proceed:
- First, I’ll need to raise my prices a bit ^v^” is always the hard part for everyone, but yeah, the taxes on each commission is 20+% here, so I’ll need to up the prices by that. So the one-character pic will get to the symbolic 100€ mark. I’ve always liked to be on the lower end of prices when it comes to furry arts, but it will be necessary if I want to get where I want
- I’ll either do 4 big openings, once every 3 months, or 5 to 6 smaller ones. Once again, it will certainly depend on the demand
- Maybe some YCHs. Never been my main thing, so won’t be many, but doing 4+ a year is likely
- Keep advertising my Patreon. I think the dream for an artist is to basically get enough money from there to just do whatever they want, but I’m far from this case xP I’ll just keep advertising it, and eventually try to get it to a nice 400€ a month
- Maybe do another “sponsored project”. Was nice working on a picture series with TrepidTheFox, where I basically offered a big discount so we could have a bigger project being made rather than a usual commission opening. So maybe another picture pack or a comic, if I find someone interested
- Opening an online shop seems like a plan, considering I’m starting to have a bunch of physical goods (sketches but also books, comics, dakis…)
- Upgrading my convention stand. The 2 last EF brought some nice money and it could even get better if I optimize all that. I (kinda legitimately) didn’t get accepted at Nordicfuzzcon and I feel like I should make a better looking stand but also keep selling nice goods. That’s one thing the where the books help a bunch as, while they aren’t selling like crazy online, they easily sell out on conventions

So yeah, lots of plans! If I get enough demand (and can keep up) this year, then I’ll make enough savings to consider buying a small place near the mountains, where the cost of living is cheap and near family, and start living from the arts.
