Bid like you mean it. (G)
Sorry, did I outbid you on that auction just now? I understand you're upset that I'm making you choose between paying more for your porn and going without, but here's the thing:
I don't care.
If I'm going to win, this is how I'm going to do it:
- I will bid what I think it's worth to me, personally. If that screws you up, well, that's your problem, not mine.
- I'm not going to get into a micro-bidding war with you. It's insulting to the artist to so blatantly be trying to get their work for a little as possible, to the point where you're camping the thread and making minimum increments. Man up already.
- I'm not going to snipe you. I bid like I mean it. If you feel the need to snipe, go ahead, let the artist see how you've specifically played it to reduce their potential income by shorting the auction process and cheating them out of who knows how many rounds of increments. I'm sure they appreciate your effort to keep them from getting their work's free-market value.
If I lose:
- I'm not going to complain in the thread. I bid as much as I wanted to bid, and I am unwilling to bid any higher.
- I'm not going to comment on how the auction totally isn't worth that much (in the artist's own forum, no less.
- I'm not going to bitch about "rich" people who have jobs and the general unfairness of me not getting what I want at the expense of others.
But you're free to do all of that. Because some of you certainly will. And frankly, you deserve each other. Even if I lose the auction, at least I have the warm fuzzy of knowing I made YOU pay for it, and giving the artist at least a little bit more reward for their effort. That's how auctions work, y'know?
