I've been muddling over the whole feminism concept in my head for a few months, and in an attempt to document my feelings, I present this unedited word-vomit:

The unfortunate problem is that many feminists (or even folks identifying sexist behaviors and language) are immediately shouted down, often loudly, by people who deem the behavior or language as "not really sexist", or "just a joke". Jokes aren't a free pass, and one gets to decide whether or not someone should be offended.

With furry being primary expressed and experienced on the internet, it's easy to filter your interactions to only those with whom you're comfortable interacting with. If you are averse to the company of women, you're perfectly capable of not having to interact with them *at all* over Twitter or FA! However, this type of filtering doesn't translate to good, functional relationships in real life. I also believe that this filtering is partially responsible for the "no girls allowed" vibe in the fandom at large.
(I must reference this Cracked article, because it really hits the nail on the head in regards to filtering.)

If someone calls you on a sexist remark, own it and apologize. Throwing the blame on the other party makes you look like an ass. And for god's sake, keep your comments about which genders would be "so much hotter" in furry porn to yourselves!
