Who is Lanternelicht? (G)
I thought I'd provide a little info about myself. I decided to use the format of a one person interview. So, here goes.
Me: First of all, tell us a little about yourself.
Me: There's not much to say that isn't already on my user page. Apart from that, I'm from British Columbia, Canada, I have no friends or acquaintances , and I'm struggling to find my course in life.
Me: Why did you join furaffinity?
Me: I followed some links from Deviantart and I became hooked. There are quite a few talented artists here.
Me: Cut the crap buddy, we all know why you're really here.
Me: Sadly, if you had interviewed me as little as a month ago you would have been right. I'm a young man in his early 20s with no social skills or friends, you do the math. However, recently I came across a few serious and very talented artists (well one in particular), and I became ashamed of my prior browsing habits. I am trying to focus more on the higher forms of art. Already I can see how much I've been missing out. I want to show my respect for FA and the artists here. It's part of my quest of self-improvement.
Me: So, what do you think of furries?
Me: They're quite fascinating. I am a fan of speculative fiction and world-building. I find anthros to be one of the best ways to think outside the box when coming up with unique races and cultures etc. I also find them aesthetically appealing. As for the furry community, I like them as well. They're interesting, and they seem to be very nice people.
Me: Do you consider yourself a furry?
Me: That's hard to say. On the one hand I like them. If given the opportunity to transform, I wouldn't turn it down. I've often thought that having things like fur and claws would be better than my limited human body.
On the other hand, I don't feel the deep connection that others seem to. I'm pretty certain I don't have a spirit animal or totem. I'm definitely no otherkin.
Me: Are you going to become more involved on FA?
Me: Yes, I intend to speak up and comment on others' work and show my appreciation, maybe even make a friend or two.
Me: What about your own work?
Me: That's hard to say. I'm trying to write and draw more. But before I can post anything here I need to get software and hardware to allow such a thing. Then I need to get skilled and confident enough with my work to be willing to post it. It's pretty doubtful at the moment. I wouldn't expect anything from me for at least a year, if ever. But I would like to make some sort of artistic contribution.
Me: Tell us about your "voyage of self-improvement".
Me: I am unhappy with myself. I've come to regret how little I've made of my life so far. I have a burning desire to love, experience, and create. This year, I am working to improve the flaws of my character. I wish to end my isolation and creative sterility. With regards to my art, I do not write or draw for pleasure any more. I don't lack for ideas, but my own laziness and cowardice prevents me from expressing myself and making a tangible contribution to the world. I have made some progress towards my goals. I have restarted my dream diary and started drawing again after not having done so for years. I also resolve to read at least one chapter of one book, and to write 2000 words or draw one picture every day. It's tough going, my inner demons fight me every step of the way and I miss a lot of days. But I am determined to become better, and so I will perservere.
