WoW that was lame. (G)
I gave world of Warcraft a month-long trial and while I could see where people could get addicted to it I've decided it's not for me. The game play was decent, the graphics weren't to shabby though there was room for improvement and the quest where changeling.
But I couldn't help but feel it was less of an epic journey and more of a rat race to the next level. Running around killing things is only fun for so long. The role playing value was almost nonexistent and I never felt like I made any kind of difference even after tackling the biggest quest.
I met some nice folks but no one I would have considered a friend and I often felt like others saw me more as a resource then an alley. Nobody ever wanted to talk about anything except the next quest, demeaning the other side or crafting better items and I missed just being able to sit and talk to someone.
There was no real goal beyond getting stronger and getting cooler stuff, classes only defined how you killed things and the entire game seemed to revolve around you killing things that have done nothing but stand there waiting to be killed.
Its not a bad game in and of itself and had just a few things been different I might have really enjoyed it. But I could never get into a world full of power-oppressed 9 year olds locked into a preprogrammed destiny while they slaughter each other for no real reason.
