I was just struck by brilliance. While finalizing the design for the dual-sexed mouse girl I mentioned, I realized I haven't really done anything with Mariah yet. Since this new mouse girl turned out witchy, I'm going to have her be Bella's apprentice/assistant/lover (which works better for me anyway, as fox x mouse is my favorite pairing). I'm pairing Kate up with Mariah, instead. EXTREME KITTY ON SHEEPY CUDDLING ACTION!
None of this is set in stone yet (and won't be until I get around to drafting character profiles), but I think this is the direction I'll take things.
