Lo and behold, i'm here. Cheers! (G)
Aupf, finally! After 1 year with just my empty dumb profile, I've decided to pimp things up, yo! Writing a journal seems to be a good start; unfortunately, I don't have much to offer to the furry fandom, though: I can't draw, at all.
I'm more to the music side of art; when it comes to furry, I find it fascinating to hear some works involving animals as a theme: some time ago I heard Saint-Saens's "the carnival of animals": it's impressive how one can picture the animal portrayed in each song. Ok, even a 5-year-old can relate "the elephant" to the deep bass and the strong piano, or "the lion" to the imponent march in the background, but when it comes to actually 'making' it, it really is a fine art, and I'm just a regular pianist. I intend to give it a shot, though, so maybe i'll submit something later on =)
Also, I think I should experiment writing too. That's the thing I admire most in "furry": it allows abstractions, fantasy, it gives something to enrich the text; it allows us to step out of our shoes and contemplate situations from a different point of view. Be it in literature, movies, comics, whatever. I'm not too confident in my english skills though..
Anyway. When it comes to the fandom, I've made some really great friends. They're all from Brazil, though. It would be nice to meet furries from other places too. There's so much to discuss, and yet I find myself kinda.. old and boring, when it comes to it. It seems I wrap myself up in a pseudo-intellectual aura when I talk about books or movies that I think are pertinent to the "furry stuff".
"KIDS THESE DAYS, THEY ONLY WANT TO YIFF and YIFF"; ok, no, I enjoy the comics, the webcomics, the drawings, but I also think stuff like wells's "dr. moreau" or o'brien "mrs. brisby" raise some interesting questions! I've yet to find a furry who enjoys talking about this things.
This or I'm just dumb and boring, who knows >:?
WELL, that being said, the journal stuff:
dear diary, today's the big day!! In about 8 hours I'll open a schroedinger's box of two major possibilites, each one with the power to dramatically change my life. DRUMS.
- the good outcome: I'll be admitted to USP, and start my wonderful and incredible journey in oceanography; if this happens, little will change. I'll stay in São Paulo, same friends, same routine, only more awesome and happy.
- the not so good and scary outcome: I'll fail USP, in which case I'll be admitted to FURG, in the extreme south of Brazil. Both this universities are the best when it comes to oceanography. FURG may even be better, but my life will change considerably. It's 900 miles from here, in the oldest city of Rio Grande do Sul. New life, living alone, far from everyone I love. It's scary, but it might be for the best. A fresh start. Like a haircut. What?
Haven't slept in a really long time; oh, the anxiety! Alas, poor yorick, I think I'm only writing all this stuff to keep myself occupied.. But it's enough. Let's see the outcome.
Cheers!
