Just your average artist. Not really looking for fame. I'm just here to post my art and hopefully make some new friends. I also have an extremely poor sense of self-worth and self-esteem.

Platinum Trophy #5 - Sonic Generations (G)
Sonic Generations is one of those games where it is really fun to play but at the same time you hate every single moment of it. The graphics, soundtrack, level design and even its story are all very impressive but where the game falls flat on its face is in its controls. This game easily has some of the most hideous controls I've ever seen on a PS3 title. It goes from minor things such as Sonic's jumping not matching the pressure you applied to the jump button to him flat out completely ignoring button presses. There were times were I needed to get to a secret area within the stage to find one of the collectable red rings and the game would have a delay where it took him a second to register that I hit the jump button to him just not jumping at all forcing me to restart the stage over and over again until I got him to jump. The slide and light speed dash are also a bit faulty as they only seemed to work whenever it felt like it which got extremely annoying at the near end game stages. The hit detection and lock on function is also another big problem that will constantly frustrate you as the lock on function doesn't register half of the time. If there is a hidden path you need to get to which requires you to hit enemies to reach you'll probably find yourself hitting the restart button a few times.
The trophies themselves aren't all that difficult for the most part but there are a select few that gave me a lot of problems. Hardest trophies to collect:
Eradicator (Bronze) Defeat 100 enemies
This may sound like a very simple task and it pretty much is. All you have to do is defeat 100 enemies. The issue with this trophy is that it is glitched and sometimes not register that you've taken down 100 enemies. When I got to about the 3/4 mark of the game I realized that I hadn't gotten Eradicator and I know I had taken down way more than 100 enemies at that point. After scouring the net for about an hour I did finally stumble upon a fix. You must delete your saved data and start a new game from scratch. To top it off it seemed like it only worked when I played as classic sonic on Green Hill Zone as the game did not register modern sonic take downs. If you've been hit with this bug I suggest putting your saved data on a flash drive, delete the saved data from ALL of the profiles on your ps3, restart the game from scratch while playing only on Classic Sonic Green Hill Zone. Once you get the trophy simply import your saved data back onto your ps3. With all the work I had to do to figure this one out it should count as a gold trophy.
Note: I haven't fully confirmed it yet but I have heard rumors that the UK version of the game is permanently bugged making it impossible to get this trophy. I'm not entirely sure if it has been patched or even if this bug is real but I figured I'd add it in.
Red Ring Collector (Silver) Get all Red Star Rings
This one is just purely frustrating. There are 5 Red Star Rings in Act 1 and Act 2 of each stage. The first few stages aren't that bad but once you hit Seaside Hill you'll be hitting the restart stage button a lot or playing through the stage over and over again. This is also where the poor button controls and poor hit detection will come into full play as well as you miss several difficult or precision jumps. Some rings are also only obtainable by taking the slower and more dangerous path and also points where you'll be going so fast you'll miss the ring several times before you just get lucky enough to grab it. And if you should die before hitting a checkpoint you'll have to collect the ring again. Prepare to spend a lot of time trying to get this trophy.
Mission Accomplished (Silver) Clear all the Challenge Acts
This one is just tedious and slow. With 90 challenges in total this one will put your patience to the test as the addressed hit detection and lock on issues I mentioned before will be in full swing once more as some stages revolve around using lock on attacks or requires precision jumps. Either way you'll probably be dying a lot or hitting the restart button. The only good things I can say about this trophy is that you don't lose lives if you die or restart the stage and you don't have to get "S" ranks to get this trophy.
Can't Touch This (Silver) Take no damage from the final boss and clear the stage
This one may not sound hard but I have to address the issue of the lock on and hit detection once more. Not only is the lock on completely terrible on this boss fight but the hit detection is way off and is constantly changing the rules on you. The homing attack that the final boss shoots are easy to dodge and once you get passed them they disappear. But sometimes at complete random the missiles will loop around from behind you and count as a hit. Forcing you to start over. Also having to listen to the other characters constantly saying "Look out Sonic!" and "Be Careful Sonic!" Gets extremely annoying especially if you have to do multiple restarts. I have also discovered that it is impossible to get this trophy on the first attempt. You'll have to complete the stage and then go back in again.
The rest of the trophies are pretty straight forward such as restoring the zones back to normal and each zone has one hidden challenge. Fortunately there is only one challenge per zone so the challenge will either be in act 1 or act 2. Just read the description of the trophy and it will tell you what to do.
This is one of those games where it is fun to play but I actually would recommend staying away from this game if you are going to try and platinum it. Although the game brought back some nostalgia for me, the stages were very impressive to look at and the soundtrack is pure excellence. Unfortunately for me it hardly felt enjoyable due to the poor controls. Its one thing if a game is hard because of its difficulty... But when a game is hard because the game controls are no good just make for a frustrating experience.
If I had to rate the game I would give it a 6.5 out of 10
Because of the possible permanent Eradicator bug and the trophies I listed above I would rate this platinum difficulty an 8.5 out of 10.
