So. For those of you who follow me (why? Why are you here? Not that I don't appreciate it, but it mystifies me) you may or may not know, I live in the United States. And we've just had our latest edition of "swap the brain/face of the country," commonly known as elections. And, while it isn't official yet, it looks like the result is going to be...one I am not going to enjoy.

I am not going to say it's surprising. It is many things. Disappointing. Dismaying. Gods damn awful. But not really surprising. All things go in cycles, and US politics is no different. Unfortunately, we're currently at the point on the wheel where votes are cast either to support ones party or to "own" the opposition, instead of...y'know, improve the country as a whole or make life better. It's happened before, it will happen again. I wish it weren't happening now.

I remember the last time this happened. You know, two elections ago. I remember how things turned out, and that, combined with what has been said this time, does not fill me with joy or hope. I'm not terrified, like I was the first time round. This time, it's more...I don't know. Horrified stoicism, maybe. Furious, incredulous survivalism, perhaps. I am well aware this is going to suck, but I'll be damned if I let this claim me. I'm too much of a stubborn floof for that.

To the rest of the world, I'm sorry. To the LGBTQ+, trans, peoples of color (and anyone I've forgotten, sorry!) my tiny little spot on the internet is a place you're always welcome and supported. To my furry friends, family, and you weirdo watchers (thank you again), buckle up, we're on the roller coaster again.

And to those who won this round...well, just remember you voted for this. Hope you don't regret it.
