I'd never choose this willingly, but I need it out there.🩷

For insight, I been selling digital art since I was 13. I'd make 200-300 a week, it was sustainable!.. But now, I can barely make 300 a month.
With how low my prices are, and the hours spent per piece, I'm working for $5-6 an hour. "Just raise your prices!!" I cannot. My $30 busts are the only thing that entices new, one-time clients. Actually, I lowered my prices 3 years ago.. 😅 My art's cheap for the quality, that's why people get it. I'm not a big artist, I dont have the "popular" factor to entice high prices for my work.. Even then, everyone's struggling in this economy. (Big artists struggle too, followers =/= money.) We're ALL going through it right now. 💔

SADLY, a lot of people have resorted to ai.🤕 I see furries EVERYWHERE using ai... In discord servers, on instagram, on secondlife, on furaffinty, on Xitter, and A LOT on VRchat. On VRchat specifically, I see ai more than actual art.. I even see ai on here, the user paid $$ for ai adopts on DeviantArt. (And before you defend em, they weren't misled: they stated in the TH profile its ai, and even linked the ai DA-adopts profile😭) It's evil and sad to see these people betray us, artists are the backbone of the furry community..

I even had a client of mine put their comm in ai, AND SEND IT TO ME.

They deleted it after told they broke TOS, but it wont change my art now being in AI. 😡

Even irl, there's AI.. On Xmas, my boyfriend's sister got a fake Pokémon card that was ai art of her, as a present from her partner.
"Normies" don't get the harm of ai, and they dont care, cuz it doesn't affect them.🙄 Its demotivating.... I've seen a big decrease in my "first-time-ever-buying-art" clients, and its because they can just generate the design for free. I've seen people proudly flaunt their ai fursona, and when confronted, say its because "they didn't find an artist yet."🙄 I used to be neutral on ai, (only because I cant do anything about it & I didn't want to make myself spiral,) but its hard to not care: it's pollution, art theft, and immoral... And it's effected my sales.

Not everyone blows up as an artist: Its a matter of connections, being trendy, and your art being shared around/word of mouth.... My $30 busts take me 4-5 hours each, and $30 is a SINGLE meal for me and my partner... If I lived by myself, I'd be in a women's homeless shelter now. I cant survive anymore💔
Still doing comms cuz I'm saving for a car, (I alr applied everywhere I can walk to, nothing.) But, I hope a miracle will happen in 2026, and i can keep being an artist fulltime 🩷

There's comfort in community struggle, ahha💞 I spent 3 hours gruelling, re-writing, editing this post... I really hope I dont make anyone sad, but this ai shit is hurting people's livelihoods. A friend of mine was a pet portrait artist for years,, AI put her out of her job, people just generate images of their pets now..

Remember to support artists you care for, nobody is around forever!
There's a handful of artists I wish I got art from when I was younger, but they've quit, or have even passed away.... and now I've no art to remember them by.
