Puhtariel the elf-maiden seek to tryst with her lover outside the view of her racist father and mother. She lusts for the touch of her Cu Sith, and Light Court fae like her parents want to keep their elvish blood pure.

Of course, she has little interest in having children, just having fun. But fae have fickle fecundity. They live long lives, and become fertile sometime into their first hundred cycles. Puhtariel has just passed her 95th cycle. Her fertility could come at any moment.

Fae magic can keep her from bearing a child, if she remembers to carry out the specific series of spells each month. Her parent's doubt her maturity to handle that, let alone carry out her duties as an Elf noble.

She has had many lovers in the past, and the risk of her becoming fertile and carrying a beast fae child has her parents more and more worried. This has her worried about the life of her young lover Ssaeowu. For her parents have a noble rank among the light fae, and her lover's family does not.

Thankfully he at least has a family with a public allegiance to the light fae. Most of the beast fae will have nothing to do with either side, light or dark. The main point of contention that has always existed between them - the taking of a sentient life. With the milt fruit in the great Taure Puntla forest, none need take life to stay alive and healthy. The forest and the fruit, made of nearly pure fae magic sustains any who eat it. Even humans.

But the dark fae not only consume life for sustenance, they hunt fae for fun and pleasure. The goblins and their war dogs in particular have nightly raids on brownie and pixie villages - kidnapping and eating their inhabitants. Even little pixie and brownie children fall pray to those monsters.

At least Ssaeowu and his family eats of the milt fruit like the light fae, or her parents would surely have him killed. They harass her now about her trysts among the beast fae. The would lock her up if she had such trysts with the dark fae too. Which makes her sad. Many of the dark fae, while fearsome, look quite lovely and desirable. Surely such trysts could only help ease the conflict with the dark?

Still, she doesn't feel much temptation to leave the soft fur of her beast fae lover. If only her parents would stop murdering them. She has created a hidden niche deep in the forest where she and her sweet Ssaeowu can frolic for hours.
