For those new to the series or just stumbling across this page, The Dresden Files is a book series by Jim Butcher following the life of Harry Dresden, an openly practicing wizard in modern day Chicago who is trying to carve out a living as a private investigator and professional consultant for the Chicago PD's Special Investigations unit run by Lieutenant Karrin Murphy. The book is written from Dresden's perspective as he is handed cases that result in him squaring off against some of the most powerful entities the spirit world has to offer and results in him getting beat down so that by the end of the book you're left wondering just how he's gonna pull out of the situation and still live.
