Social Security is not the problem. I am sick and tired of my conservative friends saying that it is. I myself am a conservative as was FDR. Much of the original programs that FDR wanted were scaled down in size in comparison to what they have become. It's hard to see now but if you study the true intent of new deal legislation as it was originally conceived before politicians turned it into a scheme to generate a democrat machine you would find that these were protective measures that were never meant to become a bureaucratic nightmare nor a financial drain on the economy. The American economy is disproportionate because people in this country do not want to do manual labor. So often they will find retail jobs in order to avoid real work. They do not want to work 9 to 5. They especially do not want to work in factories. When they were working in manual labor jobs they demanded too damn much from their employers so they lost their jobs and now those jobs are in the hands of chinks and pakis. In the mean time we have more and more retail jobs selling the junk that these godless commie asians, exploited mexicans and cranky arabs make. So over here all that is left is retail or government jobs for those with no college degrees. And for those with degrees they cannot do anything creative with them except work for destructive financial firms (goldman sacs and merril lynch) or culturally destructive media forms (videogames, mtv, internet based media programs and tv stations.) Everybody else is involved with retail. Unless you are a specialist of some kind (plumbing, carpentry, electronics specialist).

Or you can become a cop protecting the property and citizenry against an out of work or underpaid population of wanna be hoodlums who think Marilyn Manson is their god or Tony Montana is their role model or that killing senators is cool because "words mean nothing. And alcoholic or drug addicted nearly schizophrenic bums that like to hang around public libraries and supermarkets. Mostly these people are looking for an escape from the fact that the economy is unbalanced and there are not enough manufacturing or manual labor jobs in it to employ a nation.

When people attack the new deal they attack the mutated version of it. The political version of it. Not it's original premise. The economy is just as deformed as social security. It has no legs to stand on because people have abused it. They were not nationalists they were self centered. The corporations were self centered in moving the jobs out and the people were self centered in asking and often demanding more and more and more. Then wall street devoured and liquified all that could not survive the demands of both.

So now your going to blame social security? Humph!
