In the world of Delilah like in ours body modification is commonplace. Unlike ours the range of possibilities vary wildly, from simple ear piercing and dyes to complex marking and pigmentation alterations. This desire stems from how common most creatures are in terms of looks between each other in a world constantly pushing the idea of individuality over conformity. Because of this common desire for individuality it is an accepted practice for people whose careers are centered around standing out to undergo simple to extreme body modification. This has lead to a thriving medical subculture that promotes unique body modifications from skin pigmentation to genital replacement, all regulated and enforced by the government. This thriving industry is constantly pushing the boundaries of medical understanding about the bodies of anthro's and what can and can't be done to them, going so far as to develop noninvasive means to do things like breast enlargement and even rumors of pill based gender reassignment treatment which can change a male to a female or vice versa with out even having to pick up a scalpel.

Though it's accepted the severity dictates how accepted it is. For example of this at it's most basic form look at Knight's mohawk, a simple cut that he dyes unnatural colors to make him stand out in the rows of button down shirts and pocket protectors. Knight can get away with this in his social circle and in the ordered and sometimes corporate world of engineering because the modifications aren't too shocking. A more extreme example is Jade Pads, the stripper and escort that paid for expensive body modification including coloring her flesh green and dying/cutting shapes into her fur to stand out in a crowd of buxom good looking females. She would not be able to say work for Escrit Inc. or at The Northern Lights Cafe with that kind of modification but wouldn't have done so in the first place seeing as her job is based around being seen naked. The key to this is individuality and its ties to occupation or social standing, your modifications relate directly to what you are doing and why you are doing it. While there are outliers that undergo extreme modification that doesn't benefit them professionally they usually still benefit somehow personally.
