So I am finally developing my profile beyond the status of a complete lurker.
After many years of... observing... I will finally stop pretending it all means nothing to me, emerge from the woodwork and give the respect that you creative people deserve!
I kind of write, well, I am trying at the moment. We'll see how that turns out.
I also go by the name of Floyd.

I bloody did it, I did (G)
So I finished my first piece of creative writing in almost 10 years. It's been interesting, fun, compelling, and fulfilling. I have an awful imagination so to create a character within a world that I could say I care for is quite a big step for me.
The framework and base idea for it came from Cormac McCarthy's The Road, a man and his child travelling through an America destroyed by an unnamed event. In many ways I made this more difficult than it had to be by having just one main character and a pretty much a complete absence of dialogue. Aside from a story it is also a writing test to see what I write and how I do it. I had a particular voice in my head narrating it, and I hope readers will hear the same one. My style is... inappropriate for a shorter story, how I describe events, experiences would better fit a novel length piece. But this is something I wanted to try and finish regardless.
Countless thanks and gratitude goes to Silverwolf626 for helping me through the writing process and making me believe that with alteration and adjustment, it just may be good enough to submit to the judgemental world of the internet. This story is for me more than anything else, but if I can raise a thought or share an emotion through it, then that would be nice also.
Inspiration also due to Tukè whose art I had in mind when I tried to visualise what was in my head. Watching his streams was an eye-opening experience in seeing something be created. Need to remember that to create something, to finish it, you need to start it first.
