I’ve always used a price range for my backgrounds so to reflect the complexity of the individual request, and I don’t want to overcharge for something simple, or even though I don’t really mind it when it happens, end up undercharging for a much more complex idea and the extra time put into it. And sometimes outcomes will end up being more complex or more simple than my initial vision. In general this is why Pwyw commissions tend to be my favourite to do, someone can offer exactly what they want to spend and with a bit more leeway I usually end up doing more than the equivalent of my non Pwyw prices.
So probably going to change my shaded fullbody+background rate to $55, + $20 for an extra character, regardless of complexity, since that’s what I usually end up quoting anyway.

I think on a personal level if I were to commission someone I’d prefer just flat rate prices so I know straight away exactly how much I’m paying. Though I very rarely actually buy commissions. So I’m curious what people who do buy commissions actually prefer? Would you be less inclined to reach out to someone if they don’t have set flat rate prices?

Also my commissions are open and queue empty again by the way….just sayin….
