So I am not allowed to apply to dealer dens anymore? (G)
RANT ALERT AHEAD
yes you read that right. I have been attempting to apply to conventions dealer dens and I am finding out that in their applications they are expressly prohibiting anyone who does not create their own merchandise. I have attempted 6 conventions, one has said they will look into my business to perhaps make an exception but the others all have clauses that would instantly deny my merchandise sales.
now I know the don't name names rule but I don't care because this is flat out bigotry.
Furrydelphia has this statement in their application
"Restricted Items
The following is a non-exhaustive list of items that are not allowed in the Furrydelphia Dealers Den for general sale. Please be sure that you do not bring these items to Furrydelphia to sell and that they are not on your portfolios.
[*] AI Generated or Stolen Artwork. No Exceptions.
[*] 3D Printed Baubles - Not including bespoke works of art, e.g. Head Bases or Accessibility Tags
[*] Resold Commercial Items - All items must be made by your business or for your business. ZERO EXCEPTIONS."
Denfur has a required field in its application that says
" Do you agree to not sell another person's merchandise at your table"*
this is a requirement to agree to or you cannot submit your application.
Eufuria has this wonderful statement:
For these reasons, we
automatically disqualify vendor applications that display:
• AI-generated artwork and blatant art theft
• 3D-printers selling products that were designed by other creators
• Vendors who focus on reselling items that are not created by nor designed by the vendor
There are several others and it's only been a month into 2026.
Anthrocon is the only convention so far I have been accepted to and I have been doing Anthrocon for the better part of 20 years, I receive no prejudice from them. Maybe that's why they are the largest and best run furry convention in the world, they don't blanket ban whole sections of the fandom.
I would love to engage the staff at these other conventions, try and find out why this sudden ban is occurring but only one convention has replied. FWA responded politely and cordially, letting me know about this stance but also saying in light of my products they would discuss a possible exception in the future. This is how professionals handle things. I bear no ill will towards FWA and will even use advice they thoughtfully provided to better present my portfolio in the future.
I wish I had a way to present this to the fandom as I would love to hear the average convention going furries opinion on this.
Do you think the product I sell, furry comics, doujinshi, fanzines and folios and much more all directly furry related has no place at conventions?
Do you think the furry history I disseminate has no place in the fandom anymore?
I am curious to hear your thoughts
