Sculpting Help/Ideas? (G)

I'm totally fascinated with sculpting at the moment, I love working with things and I've always had a lot of fun with clay. I just have a few questions on where I should go from here;
What kind of clay should I use? I'll be sculpting figurines about 5" by 5", and I've heard good things about Super Sculpey.
What kind of equipment do I need? I have a garage, so I'll probably make most of it myself, but it's good to get an idea of the kinds of tools I should use.
Acrylics? What kind should I be using?
Any kind of advice would be appreciated. :)
